Toongabbie Baptist Church will again be hosting The Global Leadership Summit (GLS) 18-19th October (Fri night + All Day Sat).
The GLS engages more than 400,000 leaders across 1,650+ cities in 135+ countries and 59 languages! The GLS is fresh, actionable and inspiring leadership content. Every year the GLS inspires and equips leaders with an incredible range of speakers who are leadership practitioners. Themes have included: Assembling an outstanding team, developing personal grit, creative problem solving, developing talent, and exercising fearlessness in your leadership. This year it is expected that more than 6,000 leaders will gather across more than 25 sites throughout Australia, to inspire one another in vibrant leadership learning communities. Some of the speakers this year will include Bear Grylls (Adventurer, Writer, TV Host), Jo Saxton (Leadership Coach), Chris Voss (Former FBI Hostage Negotiator), Craig Groeschel (Pastor), and many more.
For those that have been to GLS in the past, they have spoken to me about how much they have valued the training. It has greatly encouraged and equipped them in many facets of life, whether it be through the secular workforce, Church-based ministry, relationships, and even family life. I am looking forward to being apart of GLS this year, and I would highly recommend this training for anyone involved in any form of leadership, and even those that are not but you feel could benefit from being a part of a community of people that are seeking to learn and grow in their gifts.
Apart from the actual GLS event taking place on the 18-19th of October, we are also organising 2 ’taster’ events. These events are designed to give people a glimpse as to what The Global Leadership Summit is all about, and how it can benefit them and those that they work with. So if you are unsure whether GLS is for you, then come along to either of these ’taster’ events. Even if you are thinking of coming along to GLS this year, then you will still benefit from these other events.

Seminar on Kingdom of God 2018
Speaker: Rev. (Dr) Jeremiah Yap, Founder and Senior Pastor of New Life Restoration Church (NLRC) Malaysia. Mentored by the late Richard Holland and Dr Kevin Connor, Jeremiah founded NLRC in 1981 and since then has been a blessing to many nations including Cambodia, China, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and South America. Under his leadership, with God’s favour and grace, he and his team of pastors planted more than 53 vibrant congregations. But as a self-effacing minister, he is easy to relate. His easy manner, however, belies the serious of his ministry emphasis; the Family in the Kingdom of God.
Pastor J, as he is fondly called by friends and his fellowship, recently wrote a book, “Kingdom Family” which, naturally, emphasised the crucial importance of families shaped to live in God’s Kingdom Plan.
This seminar is aimed at leaders and potential leaders of churches to ignite issues relating to Kingdom living. Issues concerning family and generations in relation to God’s Kingdom; of Kingdom culture and its cultivation; of its teachings and relevance in the 21st century. It is an appropriate time to have a good hard look at the Christian environment today and ask searchingly, “What is happening?”, in the context of Biblical teachings on the Kingdom of God.
Date, Time and Venue:
November 10, Saturday from 9:00 am (for 9:30 start) to 12:30 pm.
At Unit 2, 167, Magowar Road, Girraween.
No charge, freewill offering collected.
Tea, coffee and light snacks will be served.

PLENARY COUNCIL 2020 – LISTEN TO WHAT THE SPIRIT IS SAYING: As we have heard, Pope Francis has approved the Australian Catholic Bishops’ decision to hold a Plenary Council in Australia in 2020 and 2021. It is a significant moment for the Church in Australia to make decisions about the future.
The first stage of preparation is Listening and Dialogue. Together, we are on a journey of listening to God by listening to one another. All people, not only Catholics, people of other Christian Denominations, those of other faiths or no faith, are invited to engage in Listening and Dialogue Encounters – which are an open and inclusive experience of listening, dialogue and discernment about the future of the Catholic Church in Australia. Everyone is invited to respond to the question:
What do you think God is asking of us in Australia at this time?
Our Parish is hosting this first stage of Listening and Dialogue for our Deanery and for others who would like to share in this process.
When: Saturday, 3 November – 11:00am–1:00pm
Where: St. Patrick’s Hall, Calliope Street, Guildford
This process of Listening and Dialogue will be facilitated by Lana Turvey-Collins who has been appointed by the Australian Catholic Bishops as Facilitator for the Plenary Council.
Let us pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit as we journey towards the 2020 Plenary Council.

Changing the Conversation about Asylum Seekers” aims to change the conversation on Asylum Seekers and improve the lives of asylum seekers. It is a programme of "table talks" events inside civil society organisations, which provide an opportunity for asylum seekers to share their personal stories and for us to explore their questions and concerns about asylum seeker policy in a safe, respectful space.
Goals of the Table Talk Events
We aim to have a new conversation about asylum seekers, focused on respect, relationship, story and values.
By the end of our time together we want:
1. Participants to think of asylum seekers as people

Everyone is warmly invited to the Holroyd Combined Churches Pentecost Service, starting at 6:30pm on Sunday 20th May, 2018. Greystanes Uniting Church are hosting the service in their facility at 35 Cumberland road in Greystanes.
Join us as we sing praises, pray and hear a message from Dr Barry Chant - founder of Tabor College in Sydney.
Dr Barry Chant has dabbled in many things. He likes to call himself a Christian latitudinarian—someone whose interests range over a wide spectrum. Whatever he says or does, it is always biblical, usually practical and sometimes controversial! For many years he has been a regular speaker at church services, seminars, conferences and conventions. He has a prophetic teaching style and an ability to take profound, biblical truths and present them in a simple, memorable way. He has written over twenty books, ranging from theology to church history to family life and children’s stories. Hundreds of thousands of his books have been sold around the world in several languages. He has degrees in arts, theology and ministry, a diploma in education and a PhD in history. He has over 50 years experience in pastoral and educational ministry. He has been an ordained minister in the CRC Churches Int since 1962, was founding president of Tabor College, a multi-denominational Christian Education Centre with campuses in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Hobart and served as senior pastor of the Wesley International Congregation in Sydney for eight years. For Barry and his wife Vanessa, their greatest achievement is their marriage of over five decades and their greatest pride lies in their three adult children, and their marriage partners, and their twelve grandchildren.
Holroyd New Life Church invites you to join them for a Tenebrae service. Tenebrae (Latin for darkness) is a prolonged meditation on Christ’s suffering. Readings trace the story of Christ’s passion and the power of silence and darkness suggests the drama of this momentous day. As lights are extinguished, we ponder the depth of Christ’s suffering and death.
