Combined Churches Pentecost Service

We are excited to extend an invitation to you and your congregation to gather with others from local churches for a special Combined Churches Pentecost Service. Pentecost is a time of celebration and reflection on the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the early Church. It is a joyous occasion where we come together as a united body of believers to worship together. We are looking forward to coming together as one body to exalt the name of Jesus and seek a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our midst.

Cumberland Community Prayer Dinner

The Cumberland Community Prayer Dinner is a time for us to come together as a community to pray for unity, peace, and blessings for our neighbourhoods and our leaders. It's an opportunity for us to join hearts and minds in a spirit of Christian fellowship and prayer. During the evening we will have the opportunity to:

·       hear prayers and musical items;

·       be inspired by guest speaker Angela Shanahan, a Canberra-based freelance journalist and mother of nine children. She has written regularly for The Australian for over 20 years, The Spectator (British and Australian editions) for over 10 years, and formerly for the Sunday Telegraph, the Sydney Morning Herald and the Canberra Times. For 15 years she was a teacher in the NSW state high school system and at the University of NSW. Angela’s areas of interest are family policy, social affairs and religion. She was an original convener of the Thomas More Forum on faith and public life in Canberra;

·       meet and socialise with church and community members;

·       eat a two-course meal and enjoy complimentary soft-drinks.

Tickets cost $50 and can be reserved by registering online at: https://www.cognitoforms.com/HNLC1/_2024CumberlandCommunityPrayerDinnerRSVP

End of year Christmas Dinner for church leaders

It is customary for the HCMF to hold a Christmas dinner in early December each year. This is often held in one of the homes of our members. Due to Covid-19 restrictions about how many guests can gather in a home and how food may be served, we have decided to hold the 2020 Christmas dinner at the Coolibah Hotel in Sherwood Road, Merrylands West on Monday 7th December, with a 6:30pm arrival for a 7pm dinner. The Hotel has in place a Covid-19 safety plan and they have allocated us a space to use exclusively under their outdoor verandah. This area can accommodate 37 persons based on the outdoor dining 2m-sqr per person rule, however under current protocols only 30 people are allowed to dine together in a group. Keeping this in mind it will be necessary to register your attendance with Michelle Burns at the HCMF office by Wednesday 2nd December. Your spouse is also most welcome to attend with you.

Date:     Monday 7th December

Time:    6:30 arrival for a 7pm dinner

Place:    Coolibah Hotel, 25 Sherwood Rd, Merrylands West

Cost:     Please purchase your own food and drinks from the bistro and bar.

RSVP:    by Wednesday 2nd December to Michelle hcmf@hnlc.org.au or 98962514 or 0417692905

Looking forward to seeing you at our end-of-year dinner.

CANCELLED (43rd Annual Holroyd Community Prayer Dinner)

Dear Friends and Supporters of the Holroyd Community Prayer Dinner,

Thank you for your support of the 43rd dinner which was to be held on Tuesday 28th August 2020.

Regrettably the dinner is cancelled for this year.  Merrylands RSL has cancelled all functions in the light of increasing positive COVID-19 cases in restaurants and clubs.

Although we have already received many bookings, at this point in time no payments for tickets have been received by the Holroyd Christian Ministers’ Fellowship. If you have made a payment to your local church or community organisation we suggest you seek a refund from them.

The 43rd dinner will now be planned for Tuesday 31 August 2021, when we hope to again be able
to gather and pray for our community and nation. We look forward to your company then.

Blessings and stay safe,

(Rev) Bob Dennis,
For the organising committee
