Pastoral Care Training

Southern Cross Care which provides quality accommodation care and support for valued older people at its facility Cardinal Gilroy Village Merrylands is seeking committed volunteers to become Pastoral Carers.

What you will give:-

       ·    Spiritual, emotional and pastoral support to residents.

       ·    Meaningful relationship to those in need of care

       ·    A listening ear and empathetic heart to fellow human beings

       ·    Precious time with residents (1 hour (minimum) per week-flexibility in days and hours)

       ·    Regular contact each week

What you will receive:-

       ·    Training and support to assist you in understanding your role

       ·    Satisfaction at making a difference in people’s lives

       ·    An understanding of the ageing process

       ·    The appreciation of residents, staff and families

       ·    Personal growth and learning about pastoral care

If you have:-

       ·    A feel for pastoral care

       ·    Interest in reaching out to others

       ·    The ability to work as part of a team
